Jesus Christ Superstar Rocks Lichfield City

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for over 40 years, Jesus Christ Superstar, is set to rock and move the theatregoers of Lichfield this spring.

Rehearsals for the sensational and moving Jesus Christ Superstar are well underway by Lichfield Operatic Society who will perform the show at the Lichfield’s Garrick Theatre in April

The entire cast and crew have been working week in and week out for several months to perfect the challenging show, and to make sure it meets the highest of standards expected by the shows famous creators Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir Tim Rice.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Jesus Christ Superstar is a timeless work set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events, but seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.

“Everytime I look at you I don’t understand, how you let the things you did get so out of hand.”

 

Set in Jerusalem, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera tells the story of the last seven days in the life of Jesus, following the highs and lows of Jesus and his disciples as he is hailed as the Messiah of Judea, unnerving the powerful Romans.

This extraordinary and groundbreaking score features many of musical theatre’s most legendary songs from I Don’t Know How to Love Him, Heaven on Their Minds, and Gethsemane through to, of course, Superstar.

“I don’t know how to love him. I don’t know why he moves me. He’s a man. He’s just a man. “

 

This powerful and truly great piece of musical theatre is not one to be missed, and if staged properly, can be incredibly moving.

ABOUT LICHFIELD OPERATIC SOCIETY

The propular amateur dramatic Lichfield Operatic Society began in 1942, and performed its first production ‘Merrie England’ in 1943, and has since performed over 100 shows.

Since 2003 all shows have been performed at the Lichfield Garrick, and have acquired a first class reputation over the years for achieving a professional standard.

An an amateur cosiety new members are always welcomed, to either perform on stage (singing, dancing and acting) or help backstage during a production. Anyone interested can contact the company here.
