Lichfield Garrick Voted Most Welcoming Theatre

Congratulations to the Lichfield Garrick Theatre for scooping the 2016 most welcoming West Midlands theatre award, in the prestigious annual UK Theatre Awards.

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Congratulations to the Lichfield Garrick Theatre for scooping the 2016 most welcoming West Midlands theatre award, in the prestigious annual UK Theatre Awards.

The UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre Award is now in its fourth year and run in association with Smooth Radio, and it’s rather special as its voted by the public.  Front of House Manager Stacey Johnson and her team must be delighted, and very well deserved.

All of the regional winners will now be battling it out for the national award, and overall winner will be announced at the UK Theatre Awards on Sunday 9 October.

What makes a welcoming theatre?

Julian Bird, Chief Executive of UK Theatre, said:

“Theatres play a vital role in communities across the UK, so it has been wonderful to see so many votes cast. This campaign brings together audiences, theatres, performers and producers and gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate their local venue.”

There are many things that shape your experience when you visit a theatre; a friendly chat with box office staff, enjoying a delicious coffee in the cafe, feeling like you’re part of your local community, or being entertained by the panto!

Staffordshire’s Lichfield Garrick Theatre has proven that they excel in all of these areas.  Under the leadership of Chief Executive Karen Foster and Artistic Director Tim Ford is not only creating a top notch programme of theatre to suit every taste, but trying out brand new things, such as community theatre projects, and introducing patrons to brand new theatre, making use of the front of house areas and encouraging local audiences to experience new writing.

Tim’s vision for the venue is being brilliantly supported by an army of professional staff and experienced volunteers, working tirelessly both behind the scenes and front of house.

About The UK Theatre Awards

The annual UK Theatre Awards celebrate the professional excellence and achievements of performing arts all over the UK.  and is run by UK Theatre, which is the  leading theatre and performing arts membership organisation in this country.

Paul Phear, Smooth Radio presenter, said:

UK Theatre supports organisations and individuals in the performing arts at any stage of their career, through a range of training, events and other professional services.

Now that the regional awards have been announced, an overall winner will be announced at the UK Theatre Awards on Sunday 9 October at London’s Guildhall.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1458774858440{background-color: #e8e8e8 !important;}”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1458953934507{padding-right: 40px !important;padding-left: 40px !important;}”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”ABOUT LICHFIELD GARRICK” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1475158026665{padding-top: 10px !important;}”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner css=”.vc_custom_1458775554849{margin-bottom: 30px !important;}” offset=”vc_col-lg-6 vc_col-md-12″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1475159068797{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}”]
