The Gatehouse Theatre in Stafford now has its very own Writer in Residence: Martin Sketchley.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Between March and\u00a0 May 2020 Martin will be seeking stories from local people about the Gatehouse Theatre, Stafford and the surrounding area. Perhaps you\u2019re a creative writer yourself and have written something inspired by or set in the area, or maybe you have a story to tell but aren\u2019t quite sure how to start?<\/p>\n

Writing Surgeries and Workshops<\/h3>\n
From 7 March to 4 May Martin will be at the Gatehouse one day a week to listen to and write up your stories, or offer advice on your own creative writing in one-to-one writing surgeries.\u00a0 There will also be workshops from local writers William Gallagher<\/strong>, Fiona Joseph<\/strong> and Maria Whatton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
The Writer in Residence programme at the Gatehouse is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.<\/strong><\/p>\n
More about Martin Sketchley<\/h3>\nTamworth born Martin is a published writer of novels, short stories and drama scripts, the Royal Literary Fund Fellow<\/strong> at Aston University<\/strong>, and the West Midlands\u2019 Representative for the Writers\u2019 Guild of Great Britain<\/strong>. <\/a><\/p>\n
He was writer\/producer\/director on the recent My Beating Heart showcase<\/strong> in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, and an experienced workshop lead.<\/p>\n
2020 will also see the publication of his most recent short story \u2013 Your Lovin\u2019 Arms\u00a0<\/em>\u2013 an alternate history loosely based on the life of Dead or Alive<\/strong> singer Pete Burns.<\/p>\n
